Hello! Please let me know if you have any questions/concerns/ideas about Phalanx that aren't covered here. I love talking with people, plotting, and communicating in general, so please don't hesitate to friend me on plurk and hit me up about anything.

General tagging notes: My timezone is PST but my availability is all over the place, as well as my tagging speed. Some days, I'm desperate for distraction between rounds of work, so I hit tags back rather quickly throughout the day, and sometimes work and life takes my attention away for several days at a time. I'm sorry for any inconsistency in advance. I also try not to be the one to drop threads where I can help it, but I also have a habit of losing track of things, so please let me know if I've possibly dropped or lost a thread that you would like to continue, or ask if I meant to drop it or not!

OOC PREFERENCES
CONTACT METHOD: [plurk.com profile] redpyre or DM this journal
THREAD-JACKING: Of course!
FOURTH WALLING / CANON PUNCTURE: No (though I don't know how you would with an OC)
BACKTAGGING: Always! And please let me know if there is a thread I stopped tagging that you would like to continue. Unless I'm overloaded, I love going back to things that I know people are interested in, and I will let you know if burnout is indeed happening.
AVOIDED TOPICS: I'm generally not upset by text, but I will let you know if I have to bow out of or change something along the way. And please do the same for me! I don't want anyone to be uncomfortable.
PREFERRED GENDER PRONOUN: They/Them
PROSE OR BRACKETS: I have absolutely no preference between the two, and will happily adapt to whatever you start or switch to. I also tend to adapt to the tag length/depth of whoever I'm playing against, so if your tags shift from long paragraphs to shorter, quicker ones, or vice versa, I often slide to match. So, if you feel like changing up how we're tagging, go for it!
MUSEBOX/PSL/MEME: I love museboxing of all kinds-- short or long, depthy or stupid, shippy or fluffy. Hit me up on plurk and we can discuss!

IC CHARACTERISTICS
CURRENT CANON POINT: Has escaped the Big Bad and has been wandering for years...
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: The default look of their physical shell is human male, but seeming drained of color/life. Eyes in this default state has flat-black irises that reflect no light, almost looking more like holes. Their physical features (hair, eyes, skin tone, etc.) can shift and change while interacting with other people, making them appear more lifelike, but it's a very random effect. Usually dressed in a tangled and faded cloak of rags.
DEMEANOR: Does not move and behave like a normal human does. They go back and forth between being engaged and interested in the world around them, to seeming completely detached from even their own body. Often mimics the speech and actions of others. Generally tends to be curious and affable when interacting with others. Has a shitty memory.
ABILITIES: Described: here and Opt-In here
MEDICAL INFORMATION: Being that Phalanx is a necromantic construct, they are considered undead, or half-living. The vessel technically breathes, has a sluggish heartbeat, and can consume some amounts of food, but none of these things are strictly necessary for survival. Granted, if they don't eat or sleep or otherwise take care of their body, their energy will run low and things won't work like they should, but they won't starve or suffocate to death. They can also withstand grievous injuries that would put a living human out of commission and they can heal over time, but if enough physical damage is done to the body, the souls will lose their connection to it and Phalanx will "die," so they are far from being indestructible.
OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS: It's hard to offend Phalanx, but if you do, they will return to their unfazed state pretty quickly. As for what Phalanx might do that could be considered offensive, not much, aside from being a little bit annoying all the time, and maybe having a tragic backstory?
OTHER: There is a high probability that Phalanx will mimic your character's words and actions, steal small objects from them, and forget them.

IC PERMISSIONS
HUGGING/KISSING/FLIRTING: Absolutely! Depending on what state of mind Phalanx is, they might react to it any number of ways. If they're pretty vacant at the time, they'll probably be confused or miss it entirely, but if they're feeling present or particularly clingy, they'll probably love it. They have a lot of loving souls in there somewhere.
SHIPPING: It's technically possible, but good luck!
MANHANDLING/SCARING/BULLYING: Go right ahead. Phalanx is easy to push around, and even if they do get extremely upset about something, they return to "normal" pretty easily and tend to not get too emotionally/mentally scarred.
VIOLENCE: Mild to moderate injury needs no permission from me as Phalanx's physical vessel is pretty durable, but they also have no real way of defending themself. For serious maiming or if a situation might result in them not being able to escape, contact me so we can discuss details.
MAGIC: This one needs permission first! Phalanx's balance can get damaged by certain magical effects, and they are extra vulnerable to anything that would hurt an undead creature. Before using magic on Phalanx (even healing) please ask first.
MENTAL: Psychic contact is also tricky! Since they are lots of fractured souls/presences in one vessel, psychic contact can get complicated and has the potential to upset their balance. I am all for it, but it will require discussion! However, passive reading of thoughts/feelings that has no actual breaching of the mind is just fine.
MIMICRY: Go right ahead! But turnabout is fair play...
DEBATE: You can try! It'll be like arguing with a whole classroom full of four year olds.

POWERS OPT-IN
Because of the nature of Phalanx's powers, I'm going to be seeking permission before using them on other characters, both because they might be considered invasive, and because I will likely need extra information before I can actually use the power. I will either plurk a player and ask, or try to allude/give information about it in a tag if the other player's permission post doesn't ask for contact beforehand. If you would like to preemptively give me blanket permission to use one of Phalanx's abilities on your character, please reply to this post! We can also discuss what information/details might come up, if you'd like. :)

Knowing: Phalanx is only loosely connected to this particular place in space and time, and as such, their perceptions of things can get very confusing. They sometimes see into secrets, memories, thoughts, or snapshots of things that simply aren't anymore, and telling the difference between these things and what is happening in the present is difficult. So, there is always the chance they they could see or sense something about a person they're interacting with that they wouldn't be able to know otherwise, and there is no guarantee that it will or won't happen. If there is something that you want to give permission or guidelines ahead of time about things that you definitely WANT or definitely DON'T want Phalanx to pick up about your character, reply here!

Haunting: Since Phalanx is an actual bundle of ghosts inhabiting one body, they tend to bleed into the surrounding area, especially places where they spend lots of time. One of the potential effects of this is mild haunting, which usually causes things like creeping, unsettled feelings, and vivid nightmares. The nightmares can be just like what a character would normally dream about anyway, or they can be other extremely specific images/experiences (which I would describe for someone who wants to be affected in this way). If this is something that you're interested in your character experiencing after spending a significant amount of time around Phalanx, reply here!

Blanket permission for powers! I mean, Bucky may not react overly well to some of this, but Phalanx is absolutely welcome to do whatever, Bucky's got no real defense that would make any of this not work as it should. If you need info on his background, etc., just let me know at any time!

(Plus, Bucky's a pro at nightmares. BRING IT ON.)
